An Italian woman named Ada Masotti, grounded in the art of textiles in Bologna, recognized the opportunity of a lifetime. It was there she combined the craftsmanship and artistry of haute couture with her intense understanding of women and their growing desire to possess not only beautiful clothing on the outside but garments underneath that were as beautiful as they were functional. La Perla or “The Pearl” was the name given to the exquistely crafted line of fine lingerie created by Masotti where each piece was created with the rare beauty of discovering a pearl.
